Shahrukh Khan, also known as SRK, is an Indian film actor, producer, and television personality. He is known as “Badshah of Bollywood,” that is “king khan.” He was born on Nov 2, 1965, New Delhi, India.

Shahrukh Khan Early life and Family
According to Khan, his paternal grandfather, Jan Muhammad, was an ethnic Pathan from Afghanistan. His father, Meer Taj Muhammad Khan, was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar, British India. As of 2010, a paternal family of Khan was still living in Shah Wali Qatal Area of Peshawar. Mother of Khan, Lateef Fatima, was the daughter of a senior government engineer.
Khan grew up in Rajendra Nagar near Delhi. His dad had several business ventures including a restaurant. His family was middle class. He attended St. Columba’s School in central Delhi where he excelled in his studies and sports such as Hockey and Football and received the highest award of school that was “sword of honor.”
In his youth, Khan acted participated in stage plays and got praise for his limitations of Bollywood actors, of which his favorites were Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. One of his childhood friends was Amrita Singh, who later became a Bollywood actress. Khan attended Hansraj College to get his bachelor degree in Economics but spent much of his time at Delhi’s theatre action group (TAG) where he studied acting under the guidance of director Barry John. After Hansraj, he continued studies at Jamia Millia Islamia for his master degree in mass communication, but there he left to seek his acting career. He also joined the National School of Drama in Delhi during his early career in Bollywood.
Father of Khan died of cancer inn1981, and his mother died in 1991. Birth name of Khan is Shahrukh Khan, but he prefers his name to written as Shah Rukh Khan.
Shahrukh Khan Career
First starring role of Khan was in Lekh Tandon’s television series “dil dariya” which began shooting in 1988. His this role led him to work in “fouji” becoming his TV debut. This led him to further appearances in Aziz Mirza’s television series “circus” in 1989 and Mani Kaul’s miniseries “idiot” in 1991. He changed his decision to act in films in April 1991, citing it as a way to fly away from the sorrow of the death of his mother.
He shifted from Delhi to Mumbai to seek a full-time career in Bollywood and quickly signed to 4 films. His very first offer was for Hema Malini’s debut “dil aashna ha” and by June he started his first shoot. His film debut was in “dewana” which released in June 1992. In his 1993 releases, Khan got the praise for portraying villainous roles in two box office hits: an obsessive lover in “dar” and a murderer in “bazigar.”
In 1994, Khan played a love-struck musician in Kundan’s comedy-drama film “kabi hank bi naa” opposite Deepak Tijor. His performances earned him a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performances.
Khan starred in 7 films in 1995, the first of which was Rakesh Roshan’s melodramatic thriller Karan Arjun. Co-stars were Salman Khan and Kajo, and this was the second highest grossing film of the year in India. Similarly, Khan participated in many other films in the 1990s.

In 2001, Khan portrayed in Santosh’s historical epic “asoka” which partly fictionalized account of the life of Ashoka. He worked in “mohabtain” in 2000 and “kabi khush kabi gham” in 2001. Both these films provided a lot of fame to Khan.
In 2002, Khan played the title role as rebellious alcoholic opposite Aishwarya Rai in “devdas” the film earned numerous accolades including 10 Filmfare Awards, with the best actor for Khan, and a BAFTA award for best film not in the English language. Next, he co-starred in “kal ho na ho,” it became the second highest grossing film domestically and top-grossing Bollywood film in external markets that year. In 2003, he also played a significant role in “chalte chalte.”
2004 was commercially a successful year for Khan. He transformed Dreams Unlimited into “Red Chillies Entertainment” by including his wife Gauri as a producer. The same year, Khan took p[art in film “veer zara” where he portrayed the role of Indian air force pilot who falls in love with Pakistani woman. It was the highest earning film of 2004 in India, with a worldwide gross of over€940 million. In 2005 Khan featured in “paheli.” His role in “kabi alvida na khna” is also significant in 2006. His role in action film “Don” was his success as well.
In 2008, his work in “rab ney bana di jori” was mindblowing. Kahn began shooting in “My name is Khan” in 2010, his 4th collaboration with director Karan Johar and also his sixth with Kajol.
In 2013, Khan featured in “Chennai express” for Red Chillies Entertainment.
In 2017, he featured in “jab Harry met Sejal” which was a box office flop.
Shahrukh Khan Personal life
Khan married to Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu ceremony on Oct 25, 1991, after a six-year courtship. They have son who was born in 1997 and a daughter Suhana who was born in 2000. In 2013, they became parents of a third child named Abram, who was born through a surrogate mother.
According to Khan, he believes in Islam, but he also gives value to the religion of his wife. His children also follow both religions. At home of Khan, Quran placed along to the Hindu deities.
